What is it?
The retina is the light-sensitive layer of tissue that lines inside of the eye and send visual messages to the brain. A surgical procedure is used when the retina of the patient tear.
The procedure consists in making makes small burns with laser around the retinal tear.
The scarring that results from, seals the retina to the underlying tissue helping to prevent a retinal detachment.
Duration: 10 to 15 minutes per eye.
Anesthesia: Local
Side Effects: Blurry vision a few days after the procedure.
Recovery: 10 days to 2 weeks.
